This is unlike any children's book I've read before. I expected... I don't really know, I just know it was something entirely different than what I received.
Which isn't always a bad thing.
Oddly enough, I really enjoyed the one page blurb at the end of the book that spoke about the author and his life. He must have been a very strange man, in the way that characters are strange but you still love them and wish to know them over all others.
This book made me want to read it to others. The lessons were simple, straight-forward. They showed the logic in childish wonder. They gave a reminder that I could still see things differently. That we mustn't all succumb to being grown-ups chasing things we can't remember in circles.
I had heard about this book for awhile. Seen it on many book lists and had put it off until now. I'm glad I read it, in all it's oddness. Since the copy I have is from my local library, I think I also may buy myself this reminder to store on my shelves when I'm feeling my child-like curiosity slipping away.
